Happy May Day-- US Labor in crisis

I don't know why this major story has not been mentioned, but on this May Day, 4 unions are threatening to defect from the AFL-CIO to try and upend Sweeney's leadership.

This is a story critical to the future of the Democratic party, not to say the middle class as well of our country. I don't know what the best answers are, but certainly US labor has to change, and it would be nice to see the liberal blogosphere pay attention to this story.
